A pile of liquefaction silt in Parklands has been decorated with a Santa hat, Christmas decorations and a pair of jandals to form a silt 'snowman'. The photographer comments, "Not the most welcome Santa to find on your doorstep on Xmas Eve. This was made out of damp liquefaction in Parklands".

Context - The AMI Stadium was supposed to be the venue for the Rugby World Cup in Christchurch - a decision made on 16 March was made that Christchurch was not in a position to host the RWC. With Manchester St on the city side of Bealey Ave cordoned off, street workers have been working from the residential area between Bealey and Purchas St. and residents are furious. Years after the earthquakes, Christchurch is still desperately short of theatre space. But now the city council's investment of 30-million dollars to help the Court Theatre replace its very successful temporary home in Addington, is being widely applauded.
