The many arts organisations left homeless by the Christchurch earthquake, including the Christchurch Arts Festival and the Symphony Orchestra, have received good news this week from Creative New Zealand. We hear from CEO of Creative New Zealand Stephen Wainwright, manager of the Christchurch Arts Festival Steph Walker, and James Caygill from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

The song 'Antartica' is the latest offering from nine-year-old Christchurch songwriter Bob Gaudin. It's not the first song he's had released - in fact it's the third. He wrote his first song - a one minute thirty second symphony - when he was seven about the Christchurch earthquake, which was played and recorded by the NZ Symphony Orchestra!
Today marks seven years since the devastating Christchurch Earthquake. We turn out attention to the Garden City, first celebrating the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra’s 60th anniversary with violinist Natalia Lomeiko, then organist Martin Setchell on the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church organ rising from the rubble.

All Right? uploaded the video to their YouTube account on 31 March 2014. The video was shared more than 400 times on social media by the time of the prize-draw on 8 April 2014.
Music we know is a great healer, and members of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra have just been to quake-hit Kaikoura to play for children and for people who're struggling. Kaikoura Earthquake Recovery Team invited five CSO musicians to perform for local schools, for residents in the Kaikoura Health Facility, and the wider community during the week. CSO first violin Cathy Irons talks to Lynn Freeman about the experience.
