The window of a shop in Kaiapoi, with the gutted interior just visible behind the signs. A sign on the window reads "The Scallywags beat us! We have moved 158.26 meters (sic) to the corner of Fuller Street and Williams Street". Many businesses moved temporarily or permanently due to earthquake damage.

A photograph of a block of damaged shops on the corner of Gloucester Street and Woodham Road. The top of the façade has crumbled. The bricks have fallen to the ground and taken the awnings with them. Wire fencing has been placed around the buildings as a cordon. Signs on the fences indicated that the T Bakery and Red Chilli are open.

Samo Coffee Lounge signs decorate the front of The Loons Circus Theatre Company building on Canterbury Street in Lyttelton. The facade of the building is propped up by a timber frame and concrete blocks. Samo Coffee Lounge was run inside the Loons building by a group of former Lyttelton Coffee Company staff.

A sign for a community briefing to be held at Oxford Street grass area at Lyttelton Main School on Sunday 17 April 2.30pm. These signs were put up in all locations in Christchurch for each community briefing. The first series (6 March to 12 March) were held in 12 locations, second series (21 March to 26 March) in 10 locations and the third series (16 April to 18 April) in 8 locations.
