Personnel from the USAID Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) standing in Firefighters Reserve, in preparation for the two minutes of silence to honour the people who lost their lives in the 22 February 2011 earthquake. Just out of the picture is a sculpture fashioned from 5 tonnes of structural steel salvaged from the site of the World Trade Centre following their collapse on 11 September 2001 in terrorist attacks on New York City. The sculpture is now used as a tribute to firefighters in New Zealand.

Oxford on the Avon and Plunket House are also gone from Oxford Terrace, and on the other side of the river is the demolition site of the PGC building where 18 people died".

A wreath from the Singapore Contingent lying on a table in the memorial tent at the Botanic Gardens. The tent was set up for people who wanted to make a tribute to those who lost their lives during the Canterbury earthquakes. A note on the wreath reads, "The Singapore Contingent wishes to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the people of Christchurch, New Zealand and all who have lost their lives during the 22nd February 2011 earthquake. Our hearts and thoughts are with you. From the men and women of the Singapore Contingent assisting with rescue and relief efforts in Christchurch".
