A photograph of the earthquake damage to Quinns of Papanui Road. The front walls of the store have crumbled, exposing the rooms inside. Wire fencing and road cones have been placed around the building as a cordon.

The partially demolished facade of the historic Blackwell's Department Store on the corner of Raven Quay and Williams Street in Kaiapoi. Black tarpaulins have been draped over the demolished section in an attempt to weather proof it, and the base of the building is enclosed in a safety fence.

A photograph of the earthquake damage to The Painted Room on Colombo Street. The ceiling of the building has collapsed into the store, smashing the front window. Wire fencing and police tape has been placed around the building as a cordon.

A photograph of Munns the Man's Shop on Armagh Street. The windows have shattered and the glass has fallen onto the footpath. The stock and posters for an "end of lease" sale can still be seen inside the store.

The fish and chip shop on Hills Road in Edgeware. The building is red stickered meaning it is unsafe to enter. Without the glass in the window, the inside of the store is easy to see. Panelling on the walls and roof have come down and much of the furniture has been removed.

The September Canterbury earthquake. These pictures were taken of Colombo Street in Sydenham. A lot of masonry in this area has been damaged/fallen down. This was a headstone makers store. Note: these photos were taken on a cellphone; mind the quality.
