The Harbourlight Theatre on London Street in Lyttelton. There is cracking along the side of the building and damage to the domes on top of the towers. Bracing has been placed at the top to limit further damage and to stop debris from falling on the road.

St Luke's church on the corner of Manchester and Kilmore Streets. Tape and fencing have been placed around the building to keep people away. There is damage to the top of the gable, and tarpaulins covering the hole to prevent weather damage to the inside of the building.

St Johns Church on Hereford Street with damage to the tip of the archway and a red sticker on the door indicating that the building is unsafe to enter. The side of the church has been braced to stabilise the west wall and limit further damage from aftershocks.

St Pauls Trinity-Pacific Presbyterian Church on the corner of Cashel and Madras Streets. Scaffolding has been placed around the left dome of the building which was damaged during the 4 September earthquake. Plastic has also been placed over the dome to protect the inside from weather damage.

A photograph of the earthquake damage to a building in central Christchurch. The basement of the building has collapsed and the concrete blocks have broken away from each other. The left corner of the building has also suffered damage, with many of the concrete blocks shaking loose.

A photograph of the earthquake damage to The Painted Room on Colombo Street. The roof has collapsed into the building, damaging the front wall and breaking the glass windows. Wire fencing and police tape have been placed around the building as a cordon.

Damage to a house in Richmond. A brick chimney has visibly twisted and there are gaps between the bricks. The photographer comments, "Damaged chimney. We'll have to get this taken down tidily, but our roofer friends are a bit busy... (It was taken down on the morning of Day 2, just as well)".

Badly damaged in both the September and February quakes and over 6000 aftershocks the Point Pleasant yacht club had started to sink into the Avon estuary before being demolished in July 2011 after the June 6.3 earthquake

The September Canterbury earthquake. These pictures were taken of Colombo Street in Sydenham. A lot of masonry in this area has been damaged/fallen down. Monumental masons is a gravestone maker. Note: these photos were taken on a cellphone; mind the quality.
