St John Ambulance personnel preparing an oxygen mask while standing over a stretcher loaded with medical supplies. Behind them, emergency personnel can be seen searching the ruins of the collapsed Canterbury Television Building on Madras Street for trapped people. Over their heads, a member of the Fire Service in a cherry picker is spraying water on the fire burning in the building. Smoke is billowing from the building.
A photograph submitted by Scott Thomas to the QuakeStories website. The description reads, "The picture is of St Martins, a suburb just 2 minutes drive up the street from my place. The photo does not do it justice but this road was like the moon, it used to be flat and it is wet due to burst pipes. Photo taken shortly after the 22 Feb 2011 earthquake".
Moira Fraser in front of the 'Passing Time' sculpture on the corner of St Asaph Street and Madras Street. 'Passing Time' was installed outside the CPIT Building for the 6th SCAPE (a contemporary public art programme in Christchurch) a few days prior to the 22 February 2011 earthquake. The work features twisting boxes depicting each year between 1906 (the founding of CPIT) and 2010 (the date of the sculpture's production).

Damage to a house in Richmond. The brick wall is badly cracked and twisted, and some bricks have fallen, exposing the lining paper and framing below. The driveway is cracked and covered in liquefaction. The photographer comments, "These photos show our old house in River Rd and recovery work around Richmond and St Albans. More shaking damage on the east wall of the living room at our house".
