There was a risk of rocks falling off cliffs behind Redcliffs school following Sept 4th earthquake. A helicopter was used to wash off loose rocks to lower the risk to the school.

A seismic engineer says many of the Christchurch buildings destroyed in Tuesday's quake weren't designed to cope with such intense forces - and it's possible damage from the September 4th earthquake went undetected.
At around 11-30pm there was a cluster of earthquakes - two over magnitude five, including one at 11.40 which registered 5.4, that's equal to the strongest aftershock felt on Saturday afternoon.
