A view after the 6.3 magnatude quake hit Christchurch 22 February 2011. These buildings were demolished this afternoon 09 March 2011 - Gone!
The tower on the Great Hall at the Arts Centre has recently been lowered to the ground for safety - and decorated for Christmas. It must be the most unusual Christmas tree ever.
Old churches and earthquakes do not mix well.

Still standing in Jan 2011 - but the buildings future is unknown - It is probably destined to be demolished.

Damaged facade? That's the decorative mural of this restaurant located on Manchester Street in Christchurch!
I used to get lunch at the cafe "Next Best" here. Glad the earthquake did not strike at lunch time!
