Very sad - was a nice looking building. This is near the top of the building and there is signs of the top being displaced horizontally.

The Canterbury earthquake could force up the cost of building in the region by five percent but the Reserve Bank says it'll ignore that kind of inflation unless it affects the whole country.
There are fears more than a hundred businesses, particulary in the retailing and restaurant sectors, will have to close their doors as a result of the physical and economic damage caused by the earthquake.

Cross cracks in the brick wall of St Elmo Courts apartment block at the Hereford Street / Montreal Street intersection.
This building at the Barbadoes Street / St Asaph Street intersection was so badly gamaged it had to be demolished.
