A photograph of the earthquake damage to a group of shops on Manchester Street. The closest shop has collapsed and the floor of the upper storey is hanging out of the side of the shop. To the left, the outer walls of the top storeys of the shops have collapsed, the bricks spilling onto the street.

A photograph of the earthquake damage to Charlie B's Backpackers on Madras Street. The front of the building has collapsed, the bricks and other rubble spilling onto the road and footpath in front. Many of the walls inside the top storey of the building are now hanging loose from the ceiling.

I note that they have taken some equipment out of the roof, you can see daylight through the gaps on the other side. A photograph of the earthquake damage to the Chinese Methodist Church on Papanui Road. The bricks at the top of the tower have crumbled, and the wooden bracing is hanging half off the building. The spire of the tower can be seen to the left where it was moved to following the 4 September 2010 earthquake.
