The front wall has toppled onto the footpath leaving a pile of bricks. The front windows of this and surrounding buildings have been spray-painted with USAR codes 'No Go' and the times they were checked.

Context - Two more earthquakes rocked Christchurch on 13th June, following those of 4 September 2010 and 22 February 2011. The first magnitude 5.5 quake struck at 1pm, 10 kilometres east of Christchurch at Taylor's Mistake beach, at a depth of 11 kilometres, and sent people scrambling for cover. This thesis was completed by Abigail Thompson for her Master of Architecture (Professional) at the University of Auckland in 2012. It was initiated with the aim of the addressing the destruction of many Christchurch buildings following the earthquakes, and investigates the role of architecture in public memory and ways of reconnecting people with the city. Note that some images in the thesis have been obscured in order to avoid copyright infringement.

The Residential Access Project gave residents temporary access within the red-zone cordon in order to retrieve items from their homes after the 22 February 2011 earthquake. Dislodged bricks can also be seen around the monitor.
