A video of an interview with John Haynes, about his experiences during the 22 February 2011 earthquake. Haynes was in the Forsyth Barr building when the earthquake struck. Using his skills as trained mountain guide, Haynes belayed fourteen people down three and a half floors to safety.

The Harbourlight Theatre on London Street in Lyttelton. There is cracking along the side of the building and damage to the domes on top of the towers. Bracing has been placed at the top to limit further damage and to stop debris from falling on the road.

The upper section of the Durham Street Methodist Church. Scaffolding has been constructed to allow workers from the South Island Organ Company to retrieve the church's valuable and historic organ. The windows at the far end have been weather proofed with plywood and strengthened with timber bracing.

A weather-damaged Chinese lantern fallen to the ground in Victoria Square. The Chinese New Year Lantern Festival was to be held on Saturday 26 February and Sunday 27 February 2011 but was cancelled due to the earthquake. The lanterns hung in Victoria Square until they fell.
