A view down Maling Street in Avonside showing damage to the road surface and the footpath from the 4 September 2010 earthquake. Beside the footpath the blue lids of septic tanks can be seen. These tanks were installed in front of Avonside properties to allow residents to use their toilets after the September earthquake.

Workers building a facade on a damaged building on Lincoln Road, soon to be The Pedal Pusher Bar and Restaurant. To the right, another shop has also partially collapsed, the debris falling onto the footpath in front. Wire fencing has been placed along the road as a cordon.
A damaged building on Riccarton Road near Deans Avenue. The front wall of the building has crumbled onto the footpath in front. Wire fencing and road cones have been placed around the building as a cordon. Flowers on the fence suggest that somebody lost their life in this building.

Damage to the former Lyttelton Public Library on the corner of Oxford Street and Sumner Road. The facade along the top of the building has crumbled into the street. Tape and road cones have been used to create a cordon around the building.
