The September Canterbury earthquake. These pictures were taken of Colombo Street in Sydenham. A lot of masonry in this area has been damaged/fallen down. This was a headstone makers store. Note: these photos were taken on a cellphone; mind the quality.

Photograph captioned by Fairfax, "Pete Davey from Ambrose Heal Furniture. Owner Pete Davey has had to demolish his building and work out of a house at the back. He's going to rebuild, and has put a cheeky sign up saying that he has 'survived the recession, Chinese imports, and the earthquake'".

Aftermath of September 4th Earthquake in Canterbury. Shops on Colombo Street in Christchurch - damaged in earthquake and then partially demolished to reduce risk from unstable materials which might otherwise be dislodged in strong winds or subsequent aftershocks. The 1590 aftershocks recorded to date have continued to cause further damage.

It also includes an interview with Api Agsorn-Worn, owner of Victoria Thai Foods on Victoria Street, about the status of her building which she acquired six months ago.

A view of the ICTS building at the University of Canterbury, seen from level 7 of the James Hight building. The photographer comments, "First looks at our new temporary (maybe) office space. Our group will stay here until April or May 2011, then will move to another floor in the Central Library. We look down on the IT Building, which is doomed. The ugly draughty IT building is going to be demolished in the next campus revamp. The 'Butterfly Building' behind, originally the mainframe computer centre, will remain, as it's architecturally significant, apparently".

Refers to plans to demolish three buildings in Wellington's Willis Street without public consultation. The buildings due for demolition are owned by Singaporean Grand Complex Properties, which plans eventually to build a multimillion-dollar high-rise on the site, reports stuff.co.nz.
