Plywood and plastic sheeting has been used to weather proof the building. Wire fencing and road cones have been placed around the building as a cordon. Structural damage to St Elmo Courts with diagonal cracks between the windows of the building. These cracks show that there has been rocking of the masonry piers which means there is no vertical reinforcement provided in the walls.

The photograph was taken on the day when the staff were allowed to return to the building. The shelves of the bookcase have been removed, exposing damage along the sides where they knocked against the back panel. Some books have been left on the bottom shelf.
