The students and staff from this department used the church as a base after the 22 February 2011 earthquake, until their building on campus was deemed safe to enter.

Masonry and other rubble has spilled onto the footpath and street in front. To the right a plywood sign has been propped against the front fence. USAR codes have been spray-painted on the sign.
