A business owner has been allowed into the 'Red Zone' in the Christchurch CBD in order to investigate the damage to his business premises. He is dismayed to discover that he has forgotten his keys; the Civil Defence officer who is with him, looks at him askance as the door is the only part of his premises still standing. Context - Some time after the earthquake of 22 March 2011 business owners were allowed through the cordon to collect belongings and see their premises for themselves. The photographer comments, "The title came from the pot and the E on the window. This is a building that has been off limits since the Christchurch earthquake. The E was sprayed on the window by rescue teams after searching the building and finding it was empty. This is a very old wooden building that looks OK from the front, but terrible from the side as the previously adjoined building has been demolished.

The photographer comments, "A year after the earthquake in Christchurch a lot of buildings outside of the CBD are covered in cracks and beyond repair. These will slowly be demolished, but until then the buildings will be protected by a movable barrier and a red sticker".

Context: After the 22 Feburary 2011 earthquake in Christchurch, the central business district (CBD) was marked as a red zone. Red zone areas were deemed unsuitable for habitation due to significant damage and at high risk of further damage from low levels of earth shaking. CERA (Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Authority) ran public bus tours of the Christchurch CBD from November to December 2011. For safety reasons the public was not allowed off the buses as it was a dangerous and active demolition site. Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).

There was crowds watching us and we were caged inside the CERA coach with our keepers to make sure we were not allowed to escape our confines".

It was a way of creating a city of lights on the sites of demolished buildings in the earthquake devastated red zone. 350 architecture and design students from all around New Zealand created and constructed 16 pop up spaces".

The photographer comments, "The theme for the 2011 Festival of Flowers was 'burst! of water'. The Christchurch February earthquake came and water and sand called liquefaction burst out of the ground all around the area. Ironically the plants for the festival were left unattended in the cordoned off red zone and they would have loved a little burst of water".

Were these an order when the earthquake struck Christchurch on 22 February 2011? Were these a workman's and a colleague's having a quick coffee break when a later aftershock caused them to leave everything behind when they fled the red zoned building, or were they just forgotten when the building was cleared out and abandoned?".
