All red zoned and it looked like no one is living anywhere in Culver Place. All awaiting demolition.
Sand volcanoes put the silt all over the road.
Now empty and soon to be demolished - sadly for the family and all the customers. Fortunately all plant and stock saved and the search to go on for another suitable space
This statue of the Virgin Mary stood in the south tower of The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and had been facing inside from when she was placed there and through the September 2010 earthquake. That changed on February 22 2010 at 12.51pm when Christchurch was rocked by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. During the violent shaking motion Mary was t...
Reasons why it pays not to be a smoker - if the quake had hit during opening hours there would have been probably half a dozen smokers underneath the black awning crushed by falling bricks.
A positive message to us all after the 6.3 magnatude quake hit Christchurch 22 February 2011.
All that remains of the Theatre Royal plus the interior dome under plastic wrap at the back

Colombo Street between Moorhouse and Brougham is in a bad way. These are all closed; the shop at centre has collapsed.
For Best View Press"L" All 23 Arts Centre heritage buildings received significant damage in the earthquake and its subsequent aftershocks, and all have been issued with a red “Unsafe” placard. As a result of the magnitude of this damage, the Arts Centre Trust Board— the body charged with ensuring this iconic precinct is preserved and pr...
There are occasional sewerage spills into the Avon River while all the sewer and road repairs are carried out. This rock wall was level and well above high tide level prior to the eathquakes. All the houses that can been seen here (except for those on the distant Port Hills) are in the suburban "red zone" and are still to be demolished.
The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christcurch, after the 6.3 magnitude quake on 22 February 2011. When The Angels Fall Take your father's cross Gently from the wall A shadow still remaining See the churches fall In mighty arcs of sound And all that they're containing Yet all the rugged souls Looking for their lost homes Shuffle to...

This restaurant used to do bookings for large groups only and you all had to pick and wear funny hats from hooks around the walls.
Across the river were a row of several houses - all gone now. That side of the river is "Red Zone" and will be devoid of houses soon. #4077

All this is "red zone" after the earthquakes and has to be demolished. The roof of my "old" house (now owned by the government) can be seen between the third and fourth river-side houses.
Went into this cafe a few times in years gone by (all on camera club field trips or photowalks). It was a nice two-storey building then. Not now after the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011.
