A path between the new Cashel Mall shopping area and Cathedral Square was opened this weekend and about 1000 people have gone through every hour. It's the first time this section of city has been open to the public since the 22 February 2011 earthquake.
Taken soon after the 6.3 magnatude quake hit Christchurch 22 February 2011. A friend tried to get home when the road opened up and her 4 wheel drive went down. We could not get it out! The grey liquefaction has stuck the other car fast. It took less than an hour to grow this thick.
A view 4 weeks after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch. St Johns Church corner of Hereford Street and Latimer Square. Given a bit of a HDR process to add some of what I was "feeling" at the time.
Hit at 4.35am (local time) on Saturday, September 4th 2010, measuring a 7.1 and centered 40km west of the city

St Martins Library Taken several days after the 6.3 magnatude quake hit Christchurch 22 February 2011. Processed in HDR to capture some of the "feeling" when thinking about the loss of lives when the quake hit.
It would have been a glorious Spring day in Christchurch had it not been for the magnitude 7.1 earthquake at 4:30 am. All the water and silt you can see covering the street in this photo erupted from the ground following the earthquake.
Due to the 7.1 earthquake on 4th September 2010 and then the following earthquakes Godley House has suffered severe damage. Godley house was built in 1880 by Harvey Hawkins - see www.godleyhouse.co.nz/
