Building facade reduced to rubble during the magnitude 7.1 eathquake that struck Christchurch on 4 September 2010.
It's five years since the earthquake, and for the first time I feel a sense that the rebuild is taking effect. 113/115 - Natural Framing. In the middle of the rebuild, wall murals are everywhere is Christchurch. The framing is wire fence around ballet dancer, although there is plenty of evidence of framing/boxing around the foundations.
Two of the large boulders (larger than a house or two) that came down from Castle Rock (see the fence in front of the boulders).

This has made a huge mess for the residents to clean up. I heard on the news that homes have been damaged by subsidence in areas of earthquake-caused liquefaction like this.
Lots of people were out and about in the streets checking on everyone after the earthquake. When it was clear that everyone was OK, the sand volcanos became the feature of interest.

Revealed after the SoulFood Cafe building was demolished
The junction was finally opened to cross traffic just before Christmas.

Cunningham House at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens is still closed due to earthquake damage. I wonder if it will ever re-open or suffer the demolition fate many other iconic structures in Christchurch have.
