Another city walk around, this time with my brother-in-law from Auckland. Also went to the Quake City exhibition in the city organised by the Canterbury Museum. First fine day for a while.
External stairs on the Forsyth Barr building in Christchurch. Portions of the internal stairwell collapsed during the earthquake of February 22nd 2011, necessitating use of various means of getting people out of the building. Was the fourth highest building in the city pre earthquakes, but it's future is uncertain. Was for sale "as is, where ...
The back of the old Odeon movie theatre, that was for about 15-20 years a New Life Christian Centre. This is earthquake damage, although the roof was lifted off in 2011. I don't know whether this is a building that they want to save or still awaiting demolition. The smaller building to the immediate left was restored a few years ago and for a...
A couple of city blocks away from the now damaged Cathedral a temporary $4million cathedral has been built using large cardboard tubes and sheeting.
The same view as the previous photo. Building demolished after the earthquake of 2011!
Cashel Mall/Cashel Street
Awaiting the demolition ball! See the hole punched in by the neighbouring building (now demolished) during the February 22 2011 earthquake. This building is leaning to the north (left) while it's now demolished neighbour was leaning to the south (right). All because the crap land gave way underneath!

20120321_2397_1D3-47 Beachcomber Dairy Corner of New Brighton Road and Rawson Street, New Brighton. This diary is inside the suburban red zone and will probably be demolished some time in the future. See how the earthquakes have moved the footpath - the post and phone box used to stand straight! This is one of the Teleccom Wi-Fi hotspot boo...
Obvious seeing why the Summit Road has been closed below Mt Cavendish since the February 22 2011 earthquake. There are some large rocks there!
RWTU3388135 (ex Triton TTNU3388135) about to be placed on the ground outside my "Red Zone" house. This is the second container, the first is away in storage with 95% of the house hold stuff. This one is for the hobby (no, not photography gear) and garage stuff.

The old New Brighton Power Boat Club building was badly damaged in the February 2011 earthquake, and is only now (July 2012) being demolished. The building is just down the road from where I grew up and is a New Brighton iconic building.
