Ted Cheriton sent the teddies to National MP Kate Wilkinson's office to be distributed. Ms Wilkinson said it was a fantastic gesture. 'I am sure they will be welcome in Kaiapoi and beach settlements where damage from the earthquake has severely affected many families', she said. 'Hopefully these teddies will bring a smile to some young children and cheer them up in what has been a very trying and traumatic time'".
This study analysed liquefaction susceptibility and estimated ground settlements for two earthquake scenarios (foothills and Alpine Fault) for eastern Waimakariri District. The report was later partially superseded by Earthquake hazard assessment for Waimakariri District (Yetton and McCahon, 2009), which while not using such detailed analytical methods as the 2000 Beca report, reviewed new information available since 2000 (including that collected as part of the Pegasus Town development). This showed that the liquefaction susceptibility in eastern Waimakariri district was in fact much more variable than suggested in the 2000 Beca maps, and that liquefaction susceptibility was extremely difficult to predict without a site-specific investigation. A video of a press conference with Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel and Raf Manji, Chair of the Christchurch City Council Finance Committee, about the KordaMentha report. KordaMentha is an independent auditing firm which specialises in insolvencies and corporate recovery. The report analysed the Christchurch City Council's three year budgeting plan and the financial strategies that lay behind it. Much of this budget dealt with the challenges in Christchurch caused by the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. Dalziel talks about the cost of mending Christchurch's infrastructure, the Council's insurance settlement, and the need to address the findings in the report. Manji talks about the Council's financial options following the report.
