We finally got electricity again from the electricity companies' mobile generator the size of a big van. We turned on the oven and there was a loud vibrating hum and this was the result".

A large hole surrounded by liquefaction silt in the garden of a house in Bexley. The photographer comments, "This was most probably the serious hole I saw today. Can you imagine that when this occurred the whole area would have been inches deep in brown water. You would not been able to tell what you were walking on. Back in February a little girl rode her bike into one of these and had to be rescued by a passer by".

Occasionally after all the rest have been exposed by traffic someone would find 'discover' a new one".

The photographer comments, "This could be just a horrible hole caused by liquefaction pouring out of a hole after the Christchurch earthquake in January, but turn it upside down and it becomes an outcrop on the floor of an unseen tidal estuary".

A video of an interview with Laurence Mote about the wall of containers in Sumner. Shipping containers line the south side of Main Road in Sumner, protecting road users from potential rock fall from the cliffs above. Mote bikes past the containers every day on his way to work. He talks about the risks facing cyclists along Main Road and in greater Christchurch, including pot holes and narrow roads. He advises cyclists to wear bright clothing and lights, and for cars to slow down and give cyclists room.

The photographer comments, "I only managed to get one picture of the badly earthquake damaged Christchurch Cathedral and I did not want to get the buttresses holding it up like some Medieval siege engine, so I thought this one was perfect. Looking through the window notice that the adjacent wall has gone and the blue windows belong to an office block across the road".

The photographer comments, "This is the damage caused by the numerous earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand. It closely resembles a face and the round blob in the square hole at the top of the nose is a pigeon".

Photograph captioned by Fairfax, "Teeing off: Storeman Wayne Smith at the 12th hole of the Contact Wairakei Charity Golf Tournament for the Canterbury Earthquake Relief Fund. Held earlier this month, the tournament raised more than $8000 for the Canterbury Earthquake Relief Fund. In total more than $30,000 was raised for three charities at this year's annual tournament held at the Taupo Golf Club. As well as the $8200 raised for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Fund, two local charities Taupo Big Brother Big Sister and the Taupo Therapy Centre, each received $11,000 each from this year's fundraising effort".

Part of Mike Hewson's installation 'Homage To Lost Spaces' in the Cramner Courts building, photographs of people riding bicycles have been inserted into a gap in the building. The photographer comments, "Cranmer Courts was very badly damaged in the quakes that unexpectedly hit Christchurch. Originally big photographs were put into the holes where the doors and windows were, but now these massive pictures have been put across the boarded up ends of the buildings to keep them alive in the minds of the people of Christchurch. The project was thought up by Mike Hewson".
