Held earlier this month, the tournament raised more than $8000 for the Canterbury Earthquake Relief Fund. In total more than $30,000 was raised for three charities at this year's annual tournament held at the Taupo Golf Club. As well as the $8200 raised for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Fund, two local charities Taupo Big Brother Big Sister and the Taupo Therapy Centre, each received $11,000 each from this year's fundraising effort".

The National Boss presented the fire fighters with a Certificate of Commendation on Tuesday night. Invercargill firefighters Cameron McLachlan, Pete Scarlet, Dennis Hika, Chris Hamilton, Aaron Ramsay, National Commander Mike Hall, John Gilder, Ron Fetolofai (absent Murray Milne-Maresca) presented a certificate of commendation for their service during the Christchurch earthquake by national commander Mike Hall yesterday".
