Obviously still a WIP, I'm currently waiting for a pretty large bricklink order at the moment, and will probably need to place a couple more after that too. Here you can see a couple of aspects of how the model is put together. The technique used proved - from what I tried - to be the best and strongest way to do it".

A photograph captioned, "I miss living here, right by the river. I'd been there for quite a long time, 12 years or so. I realize now I took it for granted a bit. I used to get a bit bored with having a big old house that was cold, difficult to clean, and perhaps hard to keep warm. But now, when I go back there, I miss living in a big house by the river with an open fire and a big lounge and everything. I had the park there on the other side of the river. And there was a little bridge down there where you could walk over to it. There was actually a circuit you could do, up to the New Brighton Bridge and back. Yeah, it was beautiful".

A post on the NZ Raw blog written by Mark Lincoln on 24 February 2011. Mark says, "I think this is the first post I wrote after the Feb 2011 earthquake. That first photo was my first view after coming out of the office. There's a popular wide panoramic photo that someone took from the Port Hills of all of the dust rising up from the city - the photo in the blog post shows what it looked like from within the dust cloud! There are people gathering further down the street where a building has collapsed".

A car stuck in liquefaction on Breezes Road. The front wheels have fallen into a submerged pothole, lifting the back wheels off the ground. A line of other vehicles drive around the partially-submerged car. The photographer comments, "The most common sight was extensive damage to the roads. Papanui, Breezes, Wainoni, Shortland Street and many more roads had large cracks and large sink holes. There were approximately 6 cars and 1 large Ready Mix cement truck that had fallen into holes within a few blocks of each other. All people appear to have escaped without serious injury as far as I could tell".

The photographer comments, "Perhaps the most impressively stuck car was this small silver hatchback that went head first into a large hole in a street just off Shortland Street (between Shortland and Breezes Road) in Aranui. The rear hatch was open when we came across it. Apparently there had been one person and a dog inside but they managed to escape. The silt has now settled around and inside the car, making the vehicle an intimidating monument to the earthquake".

We couldn't see more than a block in either direction due to the clouds of dust that had arisen from buildings that had just collapsed. Above is looking along Tuam Street to the corner of Manchester Street where a number of buildings have just collapsed. This is 1pm and the sky was previously reasonably clear - this is all dust. From here, we picked up our vehicles from the CCC car park and headed out to get out of the chaos to a position where we could check on loved ones".

Army personnel beside the damaged Colombo Street Wesleyan Church. Danger tape has been stretched across Colombo Street to create a cordon. The photographer comments, "After the 22nd February earthquake, my wife and I spent one night in a tent outside our home and then left to stay with friends in Timaru for a couple of nights. On the way along Brougham Street, we passed the Sydenham Church on the corner of Colombo Street and Brougham Street. As you can see from the photos, the upper area has been extensively damaged. Most of the damage appears to be on the east facing wall although we didn't get much of a look at the other sides or, of course, the interior".
