People gather in a fenced-off area of Cathedral Square to view the damage to the cathedral and surrounding buildings. In the centre is the plinth which formerly held the statue of John Robert Godley. Taken on a day when a walkway was opened up between Re:Start Mall and Cathedral Square to allow temporary public access.

The Speaker's Chair stood at the southern end of the Stone Chamber of the Canterbury Provincial Chambers, and survived the 22 February 2011 earthquake despite the damage to the chamber.

Polson's decorators and sign writers.' The building that was adjacent to this one was demolished after the Christchurch earthquake and revealed this fabulous old wall sign.
