Regenerate Christchurch takes over come Monday, leaving behind the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA), which has overseen the rebuild since the devastating 2011 quakes.
The jolt, centred about five kilometres east of Christchurch, struck just after 5pm.
Over 1000 people have reported feeling the earthquake.
Over 4000 people have reported feeling the quake.
Within 15 minutes more than 7600 people had reported feeling it.
The 'moderate' quake struck 5km southwest of Christchurch.
Today marks eight years since it struck rocking the region.
Friday marks a decade since the disaster.
The organisation had to hire over 1000 new staff members to manage the claims.
