A digitally manipulated of a digger's tread and bucket. The photographer comments, "There is nothing more excitable than a grown man with a big, big toy".
Two workmen in hard hats stand amongst the rubble of Christchurch looking askance as the Dalai Lama beams and says 'You do great work, on behalf of mankind, I express great platitude...' One of the workmen holds a newspaper with a heading that reads 'Dalai Lama's quake message: think positive'. Context - The Dalai Lama visited the quake-hit city for two days in early June. Workmen approach the elevator shaft of the CTV building - 05 March 2011

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christcurch, after the 6.3 magnitude quake on 22 February 2011. The dome has now been taken down (and is on the ground on the right side of this image) and you can see the orange and green of the workmen's hi-vis in the tower section.
Two workers inspect fuses placed in an embankment during reinforcement work. The photographer comments, "This is the reinforcing of an embankment in the port of Lyttelton, which partly collapsed in the Christchurch earthquakes. They are using the same equipment as used for blowing up rock faces to mend them".
The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament after the dome was removed. Large cracks are visible in the walls and in the dome's supporting structure, and the facade is supported by haybales and shipping containers. The photographer comments, "The main dome of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament became unsafe after the February Christchurch earthquake - workmen have slowly been dismantling it. Now we are just left with the cracked and twisted walls that supported the beautiful dome".
The sign for Perry's Cafe has had "Shaken but not deterred" added under the name of the cafe. One of the iconic figures of two workmen painted on the side of the building, which have regularly-changed speech bubbles commenting humorously on topical subjects, are saying "Is my crack showing?" The paint has peeled from the other speech bubble, obscuring the reply. The photographer comments, "After the numerous earthquakes in Christchurch a lot of buildings were damaged and made off limits. This affected a lot of cafes and take aways, so if you were open you needed to make it known. The words missing from the speech bubble are 'Don't be silly'".
