Rocks were falling from the cliff at Whitewash Head near Scarborough in Sumner following the 23rd December 2011 aftershock.

A damaged house perched on the edge of the cliffs above Sumner. The photographer comments, "This house has slowly gone over the edge since the big earthquake in Christchurch in February 2011. Subsequent earthquakes has caused the rock face to crumble more and more".
Houses teetering on the edge of the cliff above Sumner, which collapsed, taking one house with it. Below, a line of shipping containers protect the road from falling rocks.
What more can one say except that Shag Rock is now about one third it's original height. Whitewash Head in the background with the road that now drops over a cliff.
