Invercargill firefighters Cameron McLachlan, Pete Scarlet, Dennis Hika, Chris Hamilton, Aaron Ramsay, National Commander Mike Hall, John Gilder, Ron Fetolofai (absent Murray Milne-Maresca) presented a certificate of commendation for their service during the Christchurch earthquake by national commander Mike Hall yesterday".

The University of Canterbury's E-Learning team's temporary office in the James Hight building. The photographer comments, "First looks at our new temporary (maybe) office space. Our group will stay here until April or May 2011, then will move to another floor in the Central Library. Foyer lifts etc. Female toilets are off the foyer to the left. These lifts start at Level 2 of the Library, and are heavily used by students. (Once the building is repaired after the earthquake; several floors are still in a mess)".

This was before the land was red-zoned as a result of the 2010 and 2011 Canterbury earthquakes. Separated cycle ways have recently been installed on both sides of the road. The photograph was modelled off an image taken by Mark Lincoln in September 2010.

A sign outside Lyttelton's grassy market on Oxford Street reading "Join us for a chat". This sign was placed by members of the Lyttelton community who were stitching felt hearts to hand out to members of the public. The felt hearts were a healing outlet during the Canterbury earthquakes. The goal was to create beauty in the midst of chaos, to keep people's hands busy and their minds off the terrifying reality of the earthquakes, as well as to give a gift of love to workers and businesses who helped improve life in Lyttelton.

The ugly draughty IT building is going to be demolished in the next campus revamp. The 'Butterfly Building' behind, originally the mainframe computer centre, will remain, as it's architecturally significant, apparently".

Student leaders, including UCSA President Kohan McNab and Sam Johnston, head of the Student Volunteer Army, leading students from the University of Canterbury in a two minute silence to remember those who died in the 22 February 2011 earthquake. They have stood on top of the ENSOC fire engine to address the crowd, and the event has been filmed from that vantage point. The students have been enjoying a barbeque lunch break in Burwood Park after volunteering to dig up liquefaction as part of the Student Volunteer Army.

A wreath from the Singapore Contingent lying on a table in the memorial tent at the Botanic Gardens. The tent was set up for people who wanted to make a tribute to those who lost their lives during the Canterbury earthquakes. A note on the wreath reads, "The Singapore Contingent wishes to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the people of Christchurch, New Zealand and all who have lost their lives during the 22nd February 2011 earthquake. Photograph captioned by Fairfax, "Teddy time: A Whanganui man has sent dozens of teddy bears to Rangiora to be distributed to children affected by the Canterbury earthquake. Ted Cheriton sent the teddies to National MP Kate Wilkinson's office to be distributed. Ms Wilkinson said it was a fantastic gesture. 'I am sure they will be welcome in Kaiapoi and beach settlements where damage from the earthquake has severely affected many families', she said. 'Hopefully these teddies will bring a smile to some young children and cheer them up in what has been a very trying and traumatic time'".
