A warning sign posted on River Road beside the Avon River reads "Health warning, contaminated water. Due to sewage overflows this water is unsafe for human contact and activity and is a public health risk. Please keep all people and pets out of contact with the water and do not cosume and seafood or shellfish collected from this area." The photographer comments, "A bike ride around the CBD. River Rd subsidence".
A dock by the riverbank walkway alongside New Brighton Road which has been closed off to the public. The area has flooded at high tide due to ground subsidence".
A fallen branch caught in weeds in the River Styx. The photographer comments, "This branch was broken off during one of the recent Christchurch earthquakes and fell into the River Styx. Now one side has sprouted roots and the other new buds".

The center of the river has slumped and the two banks have moved about a meter closer together which caused this footbridge to be so twisted. There is a suggestion that this be left as a memorial to the earthquake.
