On a walk over to Hagley Park to great some shots of the wonderful Cherry Blossom I past by the Knox Church rebuild and found that the scaffolding has come down at last. It sure was shinning in the midday light.

Sadly the days are numbered after the 6.3 quake that hit Christchurch 22 February 2011! You can see the blue streel strengthening on the tower from the earthquake on 4 September 2010. Also if you look closely you can see the cracks that have determained its fate! Press L.
Aftermath of September 4th Earthquake in Canterbury. Shops on Colombo Street in Christchurch - damaged in earthquake and then partially demolished to reduce risk from unstable materials which might otherwise be dislodged in strong winds or subsequent aftershocks. The 1590 aftershocks recorded to date have continued to cause further damage.

This is St Peters Riccarton.
It was damaged in one of the two big Earthquakes to hit Christchurch in September 2010 and February 2011.
Its taken a LONG time for work to really get going, but now that it is, they are also upgrading and extending the church with a modern annexe.
The old Christchurch Railway Station Clock Tower was damaged during the 7.1 magnitude quake on 4 September 2010 and was braced by the wooden sleeve until repaired. However, although the sleeve did its job during the 6.3 magnitude quake on 22 February 2011, the lower part of the tower started to break away.

"Open Theatre" - The Odeon
Built in 1883 and known as the Tuam Street Hall or Theatre and was New Zealand's oldest masonry, purpose built theatre. In 1930, it became the St. James Theatre, It became The Odeon Movie Theatre in 1960. Demolition started in September 2012 after the Christchurch earthquakes of 2010/2011 but seems to have stopped!?

Taken from Dallington Terrace looking towards Avonside Drive. This pumping station used to be level. When the tide is in that flax bush on the bend appears to be growing from the middle of the river, suggesting the land has slumped about a meter.
