The Clinic
The Fourth Floor.
Stella Cheersmith
The Clinic was a medical practice that was relocated to Level 5 of the CTV building when their previous premises on Gloucester Street received a red sticker after the Boxing Day 2010 earthquake. 18 people on Level 5 were killed in the February 22 earthquake and the practice closed permanently, transferring all existing patients to Moorhouse Medical centre. After the collapse, it was reported that many staff members at The Clinic were unhappy with the move from their Gloucester Street premises, as the CTV building lacked sufficient equipment and facilities to house a medical practice.

- Christchurch Press 3 March 2012: Section A, Page 16 | “Building ‘not suited for clinic'." "Doomed staff wanted to change jobs." - A page from The Press that includes several articles and infographics about The Clinic. The medical practice moved into the CTV building after their old premises on Gloucester St were red stickered, but many staff were unsure about the shift and felt the fourth floor was not suited to their needs. The article includes images of the new setup as well as details about staff that were seeking other jobs. It also lists the names of those from The Clinic who died in the CTV building. Some information is continued on Page 17.
- Christchurch Press 5 July 2012: Section A, Page 1 | “Anger over patient list sale.” - Investigates the sale of The Clinic medical records to Moorhouse Medical Centre. There seems to be differing information on when the sale took place, as John Drew, owner of the practice, was unwilling to comment on how soon he offered to list to other practices, and how much it sold for.
