Meet the UC CEISMIC interns: Shaun
This semester, UC CEISMIC is hosting eight University of Canterbury Bachelor of Arts interns. Shaun Hickland writes about his experiences as a intern with the project:
Hi, my name is Shaun Hickland and I am currently in my third year of study at the University of Canterbury working towards a BA majoring in History and Classics, which I hope to finish later this year. For the first semester of this year I was selected to be an intern working with the UC CEISMIC-Environment Canterbury (ECan) partnership.
My role within the project is to be part of the working group that is overseeing the gifting of content to UC CEISMIC, including photos and reports from not only the recent earthquakes, but also historic research on hazard assessment and seismic risk . I will also be working closely with staff who were involved in this research process to gain an idea of the context in which they were written.
I look forward to developing my analytical and research skills through this project. I am thoroughly enjoying my internship so far and am excited to be a part of this project which, one day, will become part of Christchurch's history.
